What is The Wind-o and why should I use it?

Why can't I just practice?

Practicing is essential. Overall, the best way to improve your playing is to practice your instrument. However, using The Wind-o in addition to practicing can help you make even greater improvement.

Look at how elite athletes train. For example, world-record setting sprinter Usain Bolt practices his sprinting, but he also uses weight training and other explosive movement exercises to improve the form and power of specific movements. Many of his exercises focus on specific muscles or movements that would be difficult to specifically improve by only sprinting.

Elite woodwind and brass musicians need certain muscles in the embouchure to be extremely coordinated and strong. The Wind-o helps you target specific muscles in a way that is very difficult to do by only playing your instrument.

The wind-o has proven extremely useful for clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, and French horn players. If the proper function of the corners of your mouth is essential to your embouchure, the wind-o is an indispensable tool.

What are the balloons for?

Connecting a balloon to The Wind-o changes the blowing resistance. The balloon also provides feedback so you can visually determine if your corners and air are working correctly. Here's how to connect a balloon to The Wind-o.

Can I use The Wind-o as a substitute for practice?

No. The wind-o is intended as a supplement to practice. You can use it for a great warm-up, throughout your practice to reinforce good form, between practice to improve strength and endurance, and even on vacation to stay in shape.

What is The Wind-o made of?

The wind-o is made out of molded ABS (housing and arms) and polypropylene (shims, screw plate, and cheek pad) plastic parts. The internal parts, including the screws and the inserts that hold the screws are made of stainless steel.

Can I try The Wind-o before buying it?

We will be attending a few future events where you may try The Wind-o for free.

If you are unable to make it to these events, The Wind-o purchased through this website can be returned within 30 days for a full refund* if you are unsatisfied.

Wind-o Return Policy

If you are unsatisfied, for full reimbursement minus the restocking fee, you must return your Wind-o within 30 days of receipt of your Wind-o. The restocking fee is $5.00 per Wind-o. Returns are only available for U.S. customers. In order to return your Wind-o after the 30-day period, you must contact us by email first to have that request approved.

For a full refund, minus the restocking fee:

-Returns MUST include every item and accessory originally inside The Wind-o package.

-You are responsible for the full cost of return shipping.

-Returns must be insured. You must insure the return package for the total worth of all returned Wind-o’s.

-Each return must include a copy of the original invoice. If the invoice is not included with the returned merchandise, there is an additional $3.00 fee.

-Returns are only possible for up to five Wind-o’s per invoice.

**Please note that claims of damaged or misrepresented items must be made within 24 hours of delivery.

Under no circumstances will Wind-Notes reimburse returned Wind-o’s if:

The Wind-o is not in the original packaging.
There are scratches, teeth marks, or any other damage.
There are any missing items.
